You can model anything you want. It’s your layout.
[tup][tup][yeah][:D][^] good choice!
Keith,
Norfolk Southern and Southern ,have a rich history in railroading. Southern shops ,cranked out custom built freight cars for service. Don’t forget the loco-trol radio cars ,for mid-train helpers {very cool}. Norfolk Southern is what I model and theres plenty of locomotives and freight cars to choose from. So heck yeah, these two railroads are great to model.

Beaufort,SC
Dragon River Steel Corp {DRSC}
Making HO scale steel by the ton!!!
Served by Norfolk Southern.
I think it is a dandy idea, cuz that’s what I’m doing. Your screen name has CSX in it. You like both lines?

My personal opinion, If you want to model NS, model the service through your hometown.
I love the thoroughbred scheme. Even without the logo, I love the old geeps with the black and white appeal. This afternoon I was over at Keith Shoneman’s layout at the throttle of a double header NS manifest with sound. Train Heaven for me.
I model NS and CSX, because down here in Charleston they mrege and share the same trackage. This gives me an ample source of fallen flags rolling stock that are still in use.
My layout depicts the Southern Railway during the merger period with Norfolk & Western in the early 80’s. Long live the high-hoods!
Hello Willy,
Where is Ridgeville ,SC ? According to your post ,up by Charleston, but where at. You ever go to just trains on Rivers AVE ?
Patrick
sounds good to me
i love the NS “horsehead” paint scheme
Even I have several NS units![:D]
I model the Southern predominantly but I also have some CSX, SCL and the current NS. I like converting GP’s and SD’s to the high hood configuration and painting and decalling in the Southern Tuxedo scheme. Lately Atlas has been releasing their GP’s with high hoods when appropriate. (All of this in HO). I have a few P2K GP38-2’s in some stage of conversion.

i love the idea thats what im modeling
You can run steam excursions on your NS layout regardless of whether the layout is set in 1982-1994 or after 1994 which is when the real NS ended it’s steam excusion program.
Great choice …I currently model Southern Railways.
Stan.
thats who i model and i love it
Good Choice. Nothing like a big horse painted on a locomotive. I model NS, as well, but every now and then strange things start to appear! [C):-)]

Nothing like the real railroads doing a bit of freelancing every now and then. [;)]
you might want to check out these norfolk southern train video’s http://www.traintapes.com/index.html
Thanks for the link!
The only NS tape I have is Trains and Coal. Very good tape indeed!
Mmmmm… Pokey!
