While my question doesnt directly involve model railroading, I
m sure someone could give me an answer. I`m modeling a 1/350 scale battleship and I want to make a diorama with the ship in "water’. What is the best way to do this? Should I use realistic water or gloss medium? I want to stay away from epoxy type products.
Gloss medium is probably the way to go, at least at that scale. Waves wouldn’t be that big (if you’re representing a calm sea). It’s easy to build up, cheap, and no epoxy.
Here’s a website to check for all your ship modelling questions:
I know in some of the gallaries there are discussions about making water effects. There seem to be a number of methods.
Some folks model very heavy seas indeed.

If you don´t intend to model “big waves”, but a more “serene” water in a harbor, Woodland Scenic E-Z water can do the job.
