Modeling Railroads of the 1950s, worth the money?

I wonder if Modeling Railroads of the 1950s, the special issue, is it worth the money? I’m thinking of ordering it.

I liked it…

I thought it was a great read … and I don’t even model the 50s. But I was born in the 50s and it was fun to read about that time.

I liked it, too. It left me wanting more, but that’s how it is always going to be…

Has a lot of good info on the time period. Some of it is a re-hash of previously presented information (not a reprint of previous articles, but new articles re-written and updated).

In my opinion, it’s worth the money, especially if you are modeling that time period. If you model a later time period, a lot of the information about structures still applies.

Darrell, quiet…for now

I just ordered it, thanks for your help…

I really enjoyed it. The layouts were great.

I’m biased but I loved the many NH models.[8D][:D]

It totally depends on what you think you are purchasing this volume for. Are you simply intent on seeing some articles that are in one way or another related to the era in question, or are you searching for a detailed reference book addressing period motive power, rolling stock, strcutures, signage, vehicles, etc. The former it is, the latter it is not.

CNJ831

Ditto what CNJ said. The edition is a nice to have, but the money would be better spent on a purposefully written How-To by almost anyone.

I liked it. But I wi***hat Gary Hoover talked in more detail about how he he built Dearborn Station. he coverd the platforms pretty well. But almost nothing on the concourse.
