thanks for the link, i’ve been trying to work that one out too… if you’re not familiar , google it ,… they’re beautiful when they turn bright red in the fall… they grow along the hwy’s / roads here in Mn / Ws. sometimes even planted as an erosion countermeasure… they’re sorta thick, bush like
As I remember them (Nortern NYS) they were a small tree with mostly red leaves in late fall. They go from a green/yellow mix to the red. To model the transition, you could use small clippings from Scenic Express Super Trees. Take the armature (branch matrix) and spray it with spray glue or hair spray. Dribble a green/yellow mix on top; then turn it over and dribble bright red on the bottoms. Or just use all red for middle Fall.
Read this last night, drove by some today and thought about how they looked. If you had your bush the size and shape you want, how about just a light overspray of red from top or bottom (try both). Haven’t tried it, but that is sort of how they looked to me.
So that’s why they are all over the right of way. They are soil stabilizers. I grew up in Philadelphia area, these are all over the place. Thanks for the lead on these models, they would be hard to make otherwise.
