modeling Union Station, Washington, DC

I’m considering trying to model Union Station in DC. Has anyone ever published a track plan, or (other than Google or other mapping services) where might I find a (prototypical) track plan? Space in my new house is … uh, interesting … so I’m thinking of going this route. A second option would be either NYC’s Penn Station (without the buildings over it) or the Ivy City maintenance terminal. Thanks, all.

Penn Station did not belong to the NYC. It was home to NYC’s chief rival, the Pennsylvania railroad. NYC trains terminated at Grand Central Station, which was north of Penn Station in Manhattan. It’s main line came down the east shore of the Hudson but it had alternate routes to the north and the New Haven also entered Grand Central from the North.

The Pennsylvania railroad entered Manhattan by going under the Hudson and then entered Penn Station from the west. I believe the Lehigh Valley also used Pennsy tracks to enter Penn Station.

It is my understanding that Amtrak now enters New York on the old NYC route but bypasses Grand Central using the west side freight line to reach Penn Station.

My bad on the original post - NYC is New York City. Sorry for the confusion.

I just finished a book on PRR’s struggles to get the tunnels from New Jersey to Manhattan, and the efforts to make Penn Station come into existence. Great book, can’t remember the title right now.
