Hi group. I’d like some input on this scratch-built (except for the doors/windows) railway station. It’s not finished, but getting there. The shingles were painstakingly hand-laid, which was a pain.
Maybe a chimney? A bit of weathering would be great too, maybe some bird droppings on the roof and soot streaks from the chimney, if you add one.
Looks good!
Hello I like it it looks great. How did you make your shingles? I have a building that is going to need some. Thanks Frank
I created it based on a single photo I had, and from memory of living in a station growing up.
I was going to used the fabricated sheet shingles from Northeastern Scale Models Inc, but there would’ve been too much waste on such an oddly shaped roof. So, I used the ones that are in strips, then one-by-one glued them together and staggered as needed. I attached each section with carpet tape to the styrene roof. Alot of work, but worth it.
Excellent craftsmanship. I agree it needs a chimeny. Also ventpipes for the restrooms and a standpipe for the electrical lines/phone lines to be fed into the station. Also utility metering would be a good touch. Also don’t forget the clutter on the platforms, even if it is only benches for passengers. Ant weathering depends on the age represented by the layout. The more active it is the better it will be maintained.
That roof looks excellent!
Well my first ‘input’ would be WOW !! [:O] Nice work !!
I agree about adding a chimney and weathering. Did the prototype have a train order signal?? Sometimes in a depot like this one, it was attached to the upper level dormer (like between the two windows) with a connection going down to the operator’s area inside the bay window, so he could adjust the signal from inside the depot.
GREAT WORK! [tup]
And yeah, it could use some weathering, but still, excellent work on it, especially from you worked from!
If that was my work I’d have passed out with joy. Great job[tup]
How about exterior lights?
