Modelling Tip

Does anyone recall a modeller’s tip on how to adapt a 3 foot reacher/grabber with a 90 degree bend to use to pick up cars that are “just out of reach”. I meant to build this when I saw it and it may be “dog eared” in the pile of MRs next to the john but if anyone can point me to the correct isse, I would really appreciate it.

thanks

How were you planning on uncoupling them or is this for picking up cars that have fallen off the track?

Ahhhh . . . planning. If I were planning I’d plan on not ever having the cars go off the track BUT you are correct, I don’t have a plan for that circumstance. I am mostly experiencing loss of reach exactly equal to the increase in my girth and I remember this tip where I think the guy used a 90 degree PVC elbow and spliced it into the grabber.

Does that ring a bell?

Oh, how about Grip N’ Grab Car Retriever, page 30, April 2008 MR? Is that it?

Thank you. I’ll order that back issue from Kalmbach.

Check your e-mail. I responded to your e-mail. There wasn’t much to the article, as it was a Workshop item. In my e-mail I quoted the paragraph containing the information that was most pertinent.

Dear Maxman,

Thank you again for your kind response. If my humble store of knowlege can be of assistance to you, do not hesitate to contact me.
