modelraililpictures.net :•)

We all know, and probably enjoy ralpictures.net. But why isn’t there a modelrailpictures.net. YOu know where people could go to see pictures of protoype models, and freelanced ones like the AM, Utah Belt, etc. People could also post pictures of there own freelanced model railroads to share. Why hasn’t anyone done this yet…or have they? Please respond if you have any comments at all. Thanks.

If you start up a site like this, I’ll join! I think it’s a great idea!

How about www.railimages.com, for Rail Images. This is the photo-hosting site that I use for the train pictures I post here. It is donor-supported, to some extent, so you can “contribute” to the hobby as a whole by sending them a few dollars to help defray costs.

You will see both prototype and model trains there.

Railroad Picture Archives also has some model stuff. While it’s not common, it’s there if you look for it.

Actually that site came out a year or two ago and told folks not to put photos of model trains but keep it strickly the real ones.

Yeah, I knew that, cause the email said that when I signed up, but it sure doesn’t seem like they’re doing anything to stop anyone…

Especially when one of the categories for the photos is “Model”…

There are plenty of web forums that showcase quality model railroads. Not to poo-poo the idea, but the rail community doesn’t need another screener and rejection based website to cause a ruckus among people.

I am happy looking at MR for great photographs of model trains! And to be honest, I would be more interested in a site that has quality videos of model railroads rather than pictures.

It’s just such a pain in the hide, (IMHO) to want to see pictures of the Midland Road, and have to do multiple web searches to find anything. I just think my idea would help.
