YEPPERS! This year I was on a budget. In 2004, I’ll be free of budgetary restraints and will be spending far more on my favorite hobby. Good thing–it seems that with each passing year their are more and more ‘must have’ products available to us. The gods are good!
After taking the year off from construction, next year I plan on finishing the track work, wiring & starting the scenery. This will involve spending more than I did this year as I don’t plan to back off spending on locomotives or rolling stock.
With the introduction of Broadway Limited’s line of sound equipped locomotives, my spending has gotten much higher than the previous years. However, model railroading is my “main” hobby and after working hard all my life, this is my “reward” to myself! Model railroading is a rewarding past-time and virtually, everyone, who sees my layout, gets a real ‘kick’ out of it! I’m not sure who enjoys it more, the children and their mothers, or , the “grown-up” children!!
I spent a lot in the last couple of years, this year I expect to spend less or about the same. I intend to get some of these recent aquisitions running on a layout.
I have some serious empty nester syndrome, and two bedroom and one den to combine into one train room. That should give me an additional 300 sq. feet to work with.
More. I’m looking at probably doing a dcc system with some sound. Probably less rolling stock since I can’t fit all I have on the layout right now. Plan on getting a couple of engines also, plus the usual magazines, books, etc.
Enjoy
Paul
Yes I will spend more, mostly on buliding supplies, track, and a power source. Most of my rolling stock is all set now all I have to do is fini***he layout.
After a lifetime of waiting, my kids are grown and gone, my child support is paid, and I have time, room, and money to do what I want. I am finally going to build a layout.
hoping to get a few bargains at the train shows this year and will have to spend mostly on track and turnouts for the layout but hey…it’s only money isn’t it?
