Moderators: "smushed paragraphs"

Moderators and techs:

it seems tonight that when paragraphs are typed in the final posting show one smushed together paragraph without separations.

DO we know what is up with that?

{this should appear as four paragraphs instead of one - now watch it do it correctly [8-|]}

I noticed the same thing. It also seems to me that a smaller font size is being used. While I like the layout of the new format, these two areas make it somewhat diffficult for me to read the posts.

I, too, noticed that problem with my post. Tried to edit it after I posted it to create spaces between paragraphs but to no avail.

I had this happen when I was using the Chrome browser, but since switching to Firefox things have been better.

Well… I am using Firefox and it is doing the same thing to me.

Kinda like this is supposed to be a new paragraph with a space in between…

Quick and dirty fix, which I just used on another thread - double-return between paragraphs.

As a substitute, do what my English Comp teacher taught me and indent the first word of the new paragraph.

See what I mean?

I have found the same problem occurring for me all day. I’ll post a report for Wade to see. I doubt he’ll get to it until much later tomorrow at the earliest…he has a lot on his plate.

This was one of the issues on Day 1 of the new forum software. It got fixed, but now the problem is back again. Did they do some sort of mini-upgrade and forget to install the patches?

I wonder what would happen if you copy and paste from another medium.

Let’s try it wit this new paragraph.

Rich

nope, the problem persists.

I notice the same thing. I put spaces in my posts to make them easier to read. When I post, the spaces are gone.

Noticed this yesterday – So I used “Edit” adding an extra hard-return.

NOTE A NEW BUG: “&”

It is now fixed thanks to Craig, the IT fellow who responded to the observation. Apparently there was a software upgrade yesterday, and this was one of the unintended consequences.

-Crandell

Thanks for the update, Crandell. It’s nice no longer feeling so squished…

Tom

Thanks IT guy for fixing it for us!

LOL at Tom’s picture, that is way funny.[:D]

It nows appears a new problem?

It seems this thread was locked and no further posts should be allowed. But I see two more WERE allowed and now my third one is allowed?

{I started it btw but didn’t/can’t lock threads}

From what I’ve been able to surmise, galaxy, each forum member can “lock” his or her own post. What that means I’m not entirely certain. What I do know is that, if a member does this to their post, the “lock symbol” will appear to the left of the thread titles on the main forum page AND in their post.

This does NOT mean that the entire thread has been locked but can give the impression that it is. The only way to be sure of that is if the the word “locked” appears in ALL the posts in a particular thread.

Confusing? Yes! But…that is what was added when the forum software was updated at the end of August. It’s been brought up by the mods to the IT department. They are able to get things done when time allows.

Tom

That’s not quite what I mean.

It appears thatt the entire thread was locked which should prevent posting to any posting within the thread. The padlock and word locked appear on every posting up to Crandell’s last one. It even shows my initial post locked, which had I locked it woudl have prevented the thread from expanding at all. Then another post was allowed and so have more been allowed after the thread was locked?

Wonder if new glitch?.
