It seems to me practically all newer boxcars built since the 1990s are 50’ and 60’ hi-cube, mostly built by builders like Gunderson and Trinity. These modern hi-cubes are used by Class 1s as well the popular FBOX and TBOX. What about standard-height plate C boxcars? Practically all the Plate-C boxcars currently in use appear to be built in the 1970s-80s. Have any plate-c boxcars been built in the 1990s and later, or have they fallen by the wayside completely when it comes to new production since the newer boxcars appear to be plate F hi-cubes?
AOK, IBT, and NS have added 60’, non-excess height boxcars in the last 15 years. I am thinking BNSF may have.
I don’t know how many have actually been purchased, but Trinity seems to have boxcars cataloged, including a 40 foot car: https://www.trinityrail.com/productdetails.aspx?id=13&Pcatid=22&catid=29
