Where can I obtain present day box cars (using simplified logos) rather than the outdated logos of the 1990’s?
Several of the Athearn,Atlas,Trainman and Walthers RTR boxcars have the simplified lettering.

Something I have done a lot of, to “extend” the service of “older” cars, and cars with logo’s of roads that no longer are in business, is fade out the old logo, so it barely shows, with weathering techniques, patch out the old reporting marks, and add the marks of the current owner. The same thing the real railroads do. Just watch anybodies mainline operations, and you’ll see a lot of logos of “fallen flag” roads. I watch the CN main through WI, and the UP, and WSOR, and I’ve seen a lot of cars originally labeled for the CNW, IC&G, Milwaukee Road, Clinchfield, just to name a few, that are still in service, with new reporting marks added.
You can also remove the logos, as shown in a previous thread, with an episode of Cody’s Office, patch in your own reporting marks, and your good to go.

freight cars have up to a 40 year service life, and barring wreck damage, may only be shopped for major repair/repaint once, maybe twice in that time, if at all.
for example MP merged with UP in 1982, but it’s not uncommon to see freight cars still bearing MP buzz saws, 31 years later.
Sniff, Sniff… Now I feel OLD!

Keep in mind that 1990 is only 20 years ago; and I still sometimes see cars in original 1980s or late 1970s paint jobs. And lots of simplified paint jobs started showing up in the late 1980s-1990s. Really depends on the railroad/car owner.
