Hello
I have found a nice model of an RS 11. i was wondering if anybody new of a protype that is still being used to this day. Since i model a modern shortline I would like to make sure this would make sense.
thanks

Do this for a web search. I came up with short lines that still use them.
RS11 short line railroad use
Here’s a link to a tourist railway here in Ontario, Canada that is all Alco/MLW powered.
Their power consists of an RS-11 and two RS-3s. A very nice trip especially in the fall.

Thanks guys
The funny thing is when i did the google search, i got this thread. Whoops.
This may have nothing to do with RS11s, but I’m trying to confirm if an RSD3 ever existed. The local shortline my buddy volunteers at supposedly just de-mothballed an old one, and I am trying to find out if it’s an RSD5 or better.
They do not list an RSD3 on this website: http://www.thedieselshop.us/Alco%20Data-Index.HTML
A RSD4-5 is pretty much a RS3 on 6-wheel trucks, all axles powered. There are some internal differences, but the carbody should be very similar. There also was a RSC3, these had the middle axles unpowered, for light track areas.
Here is a short line with an RS 11,

Gabe,

This website allows you to research on your own.

I have taken the liberty of researching some. There are not too many in service today, but enough to make your idea plausible. If your modeling era is a few years back, I know you also want it to be modern enough to use your GP15 (from your other post), you could probably find more.
Some of these are stored, but still serviceable. Mostly excursion railroads and few are run for freight service, but for plausibility goals, here are some links off of the website.
