Looking for information regarding the reflective yellow vertical saftey stripes showing up on modern era equipment. I see more and more modelers adding these to their cars. I want to add some to a few of my cars but looking for ideas on how to do this. I have been looking for a decal source to get these but have not found them yet so looking for ideas from others that have added these to their own cars.
Microscale makes two sets, one with white stripes and one with yellow stripes, cut to the appropriate length. A good idea is to get a photo of the car or locomotive you want to put the stripes on (or at least a similar number), as there is a wide variety of how the decals are applied. If the prototype uses white reflective stripes, then they must apply more material, as it was deemed not as reflective as yellow (that’s usually up to the car owner/ railroad). Note that passenger equipment is exempt from having the striping applied (the cars at least, many locomotives now have the striping). Also note that at the end of the car two stripes are used.
Hope this helps,
Peter.
