Modern, General-Purpose Flat Car Inquiry

I’m trying to source a modern (70’s-present) 60’-70’-80’-ish flat car for general purpose revenue service. To be used specifically, for hauling construction/agricultural equipment.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cool…but I was kinda looking for something in the $15-$20 range (Atlas, Wathers GL, Athearn, etc.).

Sorry, I should’ve been more specific.

I see Athearn has a 60’er on MB Klien’s site on sale for $21. It comes w/ a lumber load. Am I correct to assume the load is removable and this car would be otherwise suitable for my needs?

Yup, the Intermountain 60’ car is definately what you’re looking for. It’s dead-accurate for Trailer-Train/TTX, probably a stand-in for everything else. It represents a Pullman-Standard car built in large numbers for Trailer Train. The car features chain tie down tracks along its length and is designed for transporting vehicles and equipment, and other general loads may also be carried on this type of car (I’ve seen trucks, heavy cranes, other vehicles, steel mill ladles, plate steel, wire spools, other large pieces of unidentified industrial hardware, etc.).

Atlas Trainman has a new flatcar coming soon. Is should be in the $12 range (street price).

The Athearn car is a re-release of the former MDC/Roundhouse car. It’s a decent stand-in for most 60’ general service flatcars but it doesn’t have the chain tie downs of a car designed for carrying vehicles.

Actually I think MTH also has an HO model of the exact same prototype as the Intermountain car. It’s cheaper but also cruder in detail.

Hmm…sound like this is one of those instances where it’s worth the extra $$$.

Thanks for the input.
