Modern HO Scale CP Rail Brass Locomotives

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can go to purchase used or new modern HO scale CP Rail brass locomotives other than your typical sites such as Overland Brass, Uncle Dave’s Brass, Brass Trains, etc. which always seems to be sold out or out of stock? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nad

Central Hobbies in Vancouver, BC has a selection of used Canadian brass. You may also want to try Georges Trains or… [I]

Best is to look in the back of MR for the retail directory and try some of the other Canadian retailers.

Canadain Model trains in Oakville is a good spot as well, for brass or palstic Canadian Locomotives. They do a ton of mail order and have quiet a nice shop as well.

Nothing better than eBay when it comes to finding cool stuff.

CPR stuff is pretty popular though, and people know what they want, so you usually pay right up there at market value for it.

Have you looked at some of the newer plastic lately? Alot of it is as good as brass now, and in most cases, runs a whole lot better out of the box.

The ONLY brass I ever bough that ran perfectly out of the box was the new Division Point hammerhead I bought about 5 years ago. It was also the only brass loco I bought new, as well…

The only issue is that if you want CP specific, especially steam, brass is the only way to go short of scratch-building or very heavy kit-bashes. I agree with the thought that most plastic runs better than most brass, but sometimes that just does not work.

I agree as far as steam goes. Steam and really early diesel is my era, so I’m pretty muck stuck with brass as well.

As far as modern diesels go, though, I think minor kitbashing get’s you pretty close with new power. (plows, light placement, winter hatches, etc) And it’s alot cheaper and runs better.

I run a fleet of old Samhongsa stuff by Van’s, and keeping tsunamis alive in that stuff is a real make work project!
