A new episode of modern marvels that is on right now just happens to be covering frieght trains. Pretty interesting so far.
Thanks for reminding me! I had forgotten, but now it’s recording in the DVR. Unfortunately, I missed the first 12 minutes, and cannot see it right now because of time-sensitive matters right now. Can’t wait to watch it tomorrow!
I’m at work, so I’m recording it as we “speak”. I’ll watch it in the morning.
It will be rebroadcasted Sunday at 3pm central time.

Now that’s what I needed to hear! I had planned on taping it but I had to work last night and I forgot. Thanks for the rebroadcasting time. Has anyone seen it yet? How was it?
I watched it last night and it was very educational. I really enjoyed the GE loco factory… the way they
move those huge locos around is amazing. And the show had lots of history thrown in also. I’ll be recording the rebroadcast. Dave
I was just sitting down killing some time before we had to head off to Toy’s R Us to pick up the Breo like train table, that was on sale for my son for Christmas, when channel surfing I came across it. I’m always checking Modern Marvels for anything on trains, but never any luck. But sure enough the one time that I had to get out the door, the one on trains was on. I did get to see about half of it and it was exciting. I left right after they talked about Bailey Yard.
Great show, though I anly caught the second half. I need to get a recorder, though I understand they are harder to learn than DCC…
Didn’t get to watch it, but I set the DVR to record it. Can’t wait to see it. Looks really cool.
According to the History Channel website, it will be rebroadcast at 4:00 PM Eastern on Saturday, Sept. 23rd.

Watched it last night. Not bad, for a “general interest” documentary. I would have liked it more if:
- There had been a little more coverage of the roads east of the Mississippi and north of UP country.
- There had been more about originating and terminating freight. Ten seconds about loading a stack car wasn’t even an appetizer. Unit coal trains passing through a yard are interesting, but a few seconds of one flood-loading at a Powder River District mine would have been fascinating.
Oh, well. Can’t have everything.

I watched it last night. The parts I liked where how they assemble a Lococomotive and The Cajon Pass as I live about 20 miles from there.
