Modern Roundhouse Walthers

Has anybody built one ON THE LAYOUT? I have to build a total of (4) at (2) locations and it seems easier to lay the track then put up the walls.

Going to weather and paint the floor, install track and feeders then put up the walls that will be pre painted and weatherd.

Opinion??

George,

That sounds reasonable to me…I am planning on building mine in the same method. I don’t want to be fighting to get my big hand inside the roundhouse to install the rails once it is built. Are you building 4 different roundhouses? That must be a HUGE layout!

Don Z.

Don yes I am. I am sure glad to hear that someone else thought about getting the 0-5-0 in there after it is built. I have some pictures of the track work on the website under my signature.

Town one (Ashley) has a modern roundhouse with an Add-on kit for two bays for 2 Big Boys. Also the in tha same wown is the Original Roundhoue kit for 13" units that gives me ( bays in Ashley. This also has a 130 ft TT

Town two (Nanticoke) has the Modern roundhouse alng with the add-on kit for a Y6b and and a Challenger. This town also has a diesel shop and the 130ft Turntable.

Claycts…your on the right track,(pun intended) Im glueing the rail in first so that it will adheare to the plastic. If using CA glue you might try having a fan blow the fumes away as you glue up your windows, prevents fogging…John

Me Fogging or the plastic? Thanks for the tip.

CA fumes can/will fog clear plastic used for windows, so if CA is used inside any enclosed structure it should be left open a good long time before installing any windows, to allow the CA to completely cure. Or just don’t use CA at all, if it can be helped.

Randy, I have some Pro-Weld and good old Testors bottle, that is probably what I will use. I use the CA for resin and setting tracks.
