has anybody modified a gp 7 of any brand? i’m in the process of modifing one and would like to see and hear about modifications made to your engine[:D]s
Perhaps if you were to explain more what you mean by “modifying” you might get some replies. How would one modify a GP-7? Detail it perhaps, but modify one? Make it into a GP-9?

Dr B - I just finished putting soundtraxx sound in two Atlas GP-7’s. Technically that would qualify as modification?

If it’s any help I re-motor and replace the gears in my Athearn GP-7/9’s to get superior performance. Plus, they are painted and custom decaled. That is followed by detail parts and a little weathering.
I converted a GP7 into a B unit (cabless). I also installed torpedo tubes on a GP7 and use it to pull pasenger cars in the yard. I also removed the motors from a couple of GP7’s and made them free rollers. They look good hooked up to 3 powered GP7’s and I don’t have to do all of that MUing

1.)Has anybody done anysort of modifications on a GP7, such as remotoring, and what parts did you use for this?
2.)Any modifications on the exterior detail on the body, trucks or wheels on your models?
3.)Have you taken pics of these modifications and would you care to share the pictures?
