Modular clubs

Another option I have thought about is joining an HO modular club. Where is a good place to find out about a club like this? If I join such a club, I want it to be one that actually takes their modules to events and sets them up.

Also, check with a local hobby shop for active modular clubs in your area

Where do you live.

I am currently living in eastern PA near Bloomsburg. I am about 2.5 hrs out of Philly, roughly 1 from Harrisburg, and about 40 minutes SE of Bowser’s shop in Montoursville, PA. I may head up there and ask around one day this week.

Go to the next train show in your area and talk with the members of the module clubs that are there. Most module clubs are welcome to new members. Most module groups have there own standards for mainline layout, leg height, wiring connectors and control systems.

The group I belong to has a height of 44 inches from floor to track, Code 100 rail with 3 main lines spaced from the front at 5 inch, 7 inch and 10 inch center lines. Width of 2 foot increments no odd measurements on width are allowed unless you want two 3 foot modules together to make a single six footer. Depth can be anything you want and anything after the third main is up to the modeler. Switches are all Peco for reliability and durability. Framework is painted a satin black and maroon skirting is placed 3 inches down from the top of the frame to the floor.
