Monday Musings

I won’t bring up a sore thread and post this on there. Instead I will start a new one.

Saw CSX 604 and 612 both on the head end of a grain train headed south out of Lincoln in Sunday. There was no BNSF anywhere on the train. Just the dainty little click click of the BNSF tracks…

Now - my book sez these were 6000 series - and it doesn’t seem there are too many out there. Can someone enlighten me, albeit briefly, on these big boys?

Mookie

Mookie you saw one of the rarest types out there a full AC6000W. CSX did not by the convertable they only bought the big size. The only thing that would have been better would have been the SD80MAC since only 30 were ever built.

[:O] So. it’s TRUE- CSX merged BNSF overnight! How lucky you are to be the first one to witness it firsthand![;)]

SJ, I’d love to get some railfanning in out of the line of duty, with my lil’ sister tagging along. We see those things every once in a while, too, but now that they have merged with BNSF and penetrated deep into western territory, we probably won’t see them as often [swg].

Well,I guess by going on that assumption, the UP and NS have merged then.[swg]

Carl, there are bunches of your alls SD 70s down here on the NS,haven’t seen
one of their own for several days now.(a few ex-Conrail,but no actual NS)
Oh,what about that UP SD40-2T;NS trying “tunnel motors” out on the “Rat Hole”?[(-D]

…Just several days ago saw two UP 6-axle engines powering a NS train west out of Muncie…and almost certainly it came up the “rat hole” from the south. Can’t tell you the specifics of the models.

Didn’t see 'em, but heard a UP (which means it was the lead unit) getting an EC-1 on the way north to Massena, NY the other day on CSX…

nah up and bnsf are splitting up csx both roads were shuffled in with rent a wrecks and csx units going through deshler on sunday.
stay safe
Joe

Well actually, CSX has been running a few UP units along with the “rent a wrecks”,
but seems like the majority of UPs,have been on the NS.

If CSX doesn’t start paying back some HP hours to CN… ehhh?

Assumption conrail is gone for good. Goodby conrail what great railroad comes to a very very sad ending.
