Ed, Jay AND Skeets: Thank you! Just looking for a little encouragement ! The rest of you must admit it is a little odd to see a woman trackside, without said woman approaching you. So it is kind of a delicate situation. But there are things I can’t describe that I see and want to know without making a 2 page question on the forum. Who better than the people working right there?
I have found that the railroaders are pleasant to talk to. I just happened to strike up a conversation with a brakemen a few miles down the tracks from Mookie. At first he was actually apologetic because they had the grade crossing tied up for perhaps a little longer than they legally should have while they switched the Ash Grove cement plant in my town. Being off duty and a fan, I really didn’t care, and we had a nice conversation. And I even find that when I work overnight that when I wave at the train I get a couple extra toots from the engineer.
