Recently as I got ready to do my yard I need a roadbed material that covers a lot of ground. I use WS foam as a roadbed but I didn’t feel to spend a lot of cash on it, not mentioning waiting a few weeks for it to arrive.
So what I did was to get rolls of the things that you sit on when you go camping. The roll I got was approximately 2*6 feet and cost around 5 $. It is easy to lay, the same height as the WS stuff and made of the same kind of material. Have anyone else tried this?
Sounds like a closed cell foam mat that usually goes under a sleeping bag. Sounds like a good option for covering large spaces. It should take glue without a problem and it should also hold track spikes. The only issue I can see is if you have to drill holes though it. It tends to ball up when you put a hole in it and tear. Don’t ask me how I know this but clearing all the rocks out of your tent site is a good idea. [:)]
Just curious cause i have two of the Blue pads. Never found them very comfortable to use when camping. They do however keep the dampness away when used underneath the self inflating ones wwe now have. I must admit i never gave it any consideration to using them for roadbed.
Good idea! Probably called something like “ground sheet for camping” in English, “liggeunderlag” in Norwegian, and probably something similar in Swedish - Norwegian and Swedish aren’t all that different (,st of the time
$5 (call it around 35 Swedish kronor ?) sounds like a decent price for a 180x60 cm (6 foot by 2 foot) big 6mm (1/4") thick foam ground sheet.
I’ll check the brand tomorrow. But you are right on what I’m trying to describe. I bought it at Jysk Bäddlager. It’s Danish so you might have it in Norway to? It’s very easy to work with and is good to cut in. I was on the search for a good, cheap material when this hit me. I’ll never use anything again.
Oh, it’s liggunderlag in Swedish , as you say, not very much of a difference. My grandmother came from Trondheim by the way.
Sure do. Called “Jysk sengetøylager” in Norway, but same company. Didn’t see any mats on their Norwegian website (http://www.jysk.no). But I’ll drop in next time I pass one and have a look. Thanks for the tip!
So did my maternal grandma [:)]
OTOH, my brother in law over in America has ancestors that came from Östergötland in Sweden. It’s a small world.
