Monteal,Maine and Atlantic

I was talking to my son who lives in Stacyville Maine right next to the MM&A tracks. He told me about a work train he saw and said the engine was wedge shaped like a door stop with the big end leading.I told him I thought he might have seen a snowplow but he said there was no plow attached and it was an engine.Any ideas?

I went through the MMA pics on three sites and nothing like you describe unless the wedge part was misunderstood to be the rad wings

Work train?

Jordan Spreader?

Most people assume the thing in front to be the locomotive.

Wonder if it was something like this?

I agree with Tree : Jordan Spreader (The M420’s left with the G&W taking over)

G&W never took over the MM&A which is the former BAR. Also, the unit pictured is a GE B39-8, not at M420. I think we are confusing MM&A with the STLA which is a G&W property and did have M420s. Check with Randy Stahl about this as he works for the MM&A.
