MOPAC B-Boat in San Antonio

Here’s another of my dad’s shots. I am 99% sure that this is San Antonio (it’s on a roll of San Antonio shots) but if anyone can add anything, I’d love to know more.

As this image is either late 1981 or early 1982, the Dash 7 is brand new.

Thanks for looking and corrections are welcome.

That’s a amazing shot! That MP blue sure looks great.

Sweet !!! [tup][tup][8D]

That is a nice shot, the older units always photographed better.

That appears to be along Wetmore Rd, across from San Antonio International Airport. I believe that is North Loop siding, right where the team track is.

Please feel free to post all the SA pictures you want (please).

Edit: BTW, the train is heading north. I am guessing that was the local serving the numerous industries in that area. The UP is still very busy in that area.

Thanks Smitty! Don’t know that I’ll find more, but as I go through my dad’s stuff, if I do, I will post them.

Very cool… Is there a railroad name for this location? Also, what MoPac line was this?

The UP refers to this siding as North Loop Siding. It is part of UPs Austin Sub I believe. I think I have a MoPac employee timetable from around the time of the pic at home, and will take a look and see what I can find in regards to what the MoPac referred to this line as (although I believe it has always been North Loop Siding).

The following info is from the “Missouri Pacific Railroad Co; System Timetable No. 1; Effective 12:01 a.m. Sunday April 28, 1985”.

That is North Loop station at milepost 251.5 (the MP probably isn’t exactly where the pic was taken but darn close. I believe the technical location of the “station” was/is the south end of the siding). It was considered the Austin subdivision.

I hope the additional info is useful. I did a LOT of railfanning in the San Antonio area, and out to Seguin and New Braunfels and know some of the trackage better than any sane person should.

BTW, the timetable does have the Union Pacific shield on it for obvious reasons.

It’s fantastic. Thanks so much. It’s great being able to fill in information on old shots, especially those of my dad’s.
