More about Internet Trains

About a week or so I made a post about the quality of Internet Trains and did not get any good remarks. I figured it would be several months before I got my track so I ordered some from MB Klein. I got an E mail this morning saying my track from Internet Trains has been shipped by USPS. I guess maybe they are trying to be a better hobby shop, maybe I am just a lucky man. Any way, I thought I would post and tell you all about it, we will see how long it takes me to get the track.

Have a good week. Mike

Just on a side note as I’ve never ordered from internet trains,I’ve had nothing but great experiences ordering all my trackage and stuff from http://www.cchobbies.com/ The owner understands the importance of customer service, Very fast and he is also very knowledgeable and his prices are very good.

I’ll second that. Will runs an excellent online shop (I couldn’t say whether he has a good brick-and-mortar store, never having been to Wyoming) with excellent prices, and he is a very knowledgeable and friendly guy.

You ordered a fairly common “commodity” item from them. (MP flex track) Which may have something to do with it. Also, many people here posted that received Emails stating their order was shipped only to have weeks/months of waiting and fighting ahead of them. Let us know if you actually get it.

We certainly hope you do get the track quickly and not experience some of the delays others have written about in the past year. Maybe they are trying to improve their image and get a few things out the door.

Just to let you know I got my track from Internet Trains this morning, actually, it came in yesterday but the postmaster forgot to put a notice in my P.O. box. Everything is in perfect order. Although I had no problems like a lot of you have had I probley won’t order any more from them, but who knows. Mike

Lemme tell ya a story.

Last summer (07) Internet trains had a closeout on Kadee PS2 hoppers on Memorial Day weekend. I ordered an IC and a CNW. Stock status showed they had both on hand. I received an e-mail on 6/20 (almost a month later) indicating that the CNW was sold out. OK says I. Can you substitute an MKT? No problem, says IMT.

7/14 I receive an e-mail syaing it’s finally ready to ship, just need updated info on shipping. WTF? I have lived in the same house for the last 28 years and have ordered several times before from them. OK. So I give them the info they need.

A week or so goes by and finally, the package arrives. Almost two months for “in-stock” items. Now, when I open the package, guess what’s inside. The CNW hopper! They had charged me 50 cents more for the MKT (not sure why that was) but wound up sending me what I originally order.

That was the last time I ordered from Internet Trains.

Your mileage may vary. See dealer for details. etc., etc.

Tom

If you read all the bad reports about Internet Trains why on earth would you still order something from them???

You got lucky this time. I guarantee if you order from them again your order will either be late(a month or more) or wrong. I swear these people are morons[(-D]

Hi!

I have never used Internet Trains and due to what all I’ve read here, I never will. I have used Toy Train Heaven and Walthers and Standard Hobby over the last umpteen years and had total success.

Remember the “scam” mail order companies (with too good to be true prices) from several years ago that were reported in MR and other mags? They made me very wary about using companies with dubious reputations. Today, the best indicator (to me) of a company’s reputation is what I read here on this forum.

As a retired business analyst, I marvel at the stupidity of those firms that have a rep for "false advertising, poor communications, and failure to deliver as promised. They are committing business suicide, and will eventually go under. Its just amazing, isn’t it?

I’m “fixin” to rebuild my layout, and will be shopping for several Atlas # 8 turnouts, motors, flex track, etc., and then I’ll shop for several Digitrax components as I’ll be switching to DCC. I’ll surely be looking for low prices, but I would not hesitate to spend more and get honest and timely service.

ENJOY ! And rest assured that there are many honest and reliable dealers out there!!!
