More British and European Models Please

Hey Ya’ll

One day,my dad and I were visiting the bookstore we came across some magagzines about British Railroad Modeling and Briti***rains. This inpired us to tear down the HO layout (Only benchwork) to make room for a british layout and a European layout.

We are looking to see if Model Railroader will ever publish articles on British modeling as well as European. We would very much appreciate it.

So far we have bought 5 british models and 3 european modles.

British

  1. Bachmann BR Patriot
  2. Bachmann Standard Class 5mt
  3. Hornby LMS “princess Louise”
  4. Hornby LNER “Mallard”
  5. Hornby LNER “Flying Scotsman”

We have also bought 7 coaches and 20 freight wagons.

There are several British model railway magazines that would probably be of interest to you. I see them around at specialty magazine stands, but never had an interest in them. Perhaps a search on the Web will bring you their websites where you may be able to subscribe to them. Seems like the best way to go, rather than to expect MR to cover UK models.

There’s a few magazines that might be of help. Railway Modeller is published by Peco, but is a bit old-fashioned in both style and approach - they have little or no web presence. Model Rail is better (to my mind) but again has no website. British Railway Modelling does have a web presence and a forum at www.brmodelling.com Also worth a look is Model Railway Express Mag at www.mremag.demon.co.uk - this has up to date news and reviews of models and trade events - as well as discussions by email. If finding a supplier in your area is difficult try www.ehattons.com for models - they stock pretty much every Hornby and Bachmann release and are willing to ship worldwide, prices are lower than list and they often have bulk packs of one type of wagon or coach that will help with making up trains on a budget. Hope this is of help!

Here the link for the Peco site:

There are links to both the Railway Modeler and Continental Modeler pages.

I have been buying them at a hobby shop in Roseville CA for several months They are both very nice magazines. I am considering subscribing.
