It is amazing how an entity, regardless of business type, with a strong economic result manages to get their reports out as quickly as possible. This may not bode well for BNSF this reporting period, but with the weather problems they have had, lower than anticipated results would be understandable.
Figure for KCS is revenue, not earnings.

If the railroads show prosperity, then the shippers howl for more governmental control , not realizing that profitability of the rails assures the shippers of reliably good service and keeps the share-owners happy.
