More mud: Passenger service north of Seattle embargoed again

When is BNSF going to build a retaining wall or other structure to prevent these relatively small slides happening?

Woe unto Sounders and Cascades trains if this winter turns into anything like that of 2010/11.

While it would have no effect on the Cascades and Sounders, if the Builder came into Seattle over Stampede Pass, the route of the long-lost NP North Coast Limited, these slides would not be a problem. By the way, last I heard, the Stampede Pass line was operating. But such thinking “outside the box” is something Amtrak seldom does, and passenger service in and out of Seattle will suffer until BNSF fixes its track.

Jeffery - did you ever ride a bus cross-country? IT SUCKS!

Jeffery - did you ever ride a bus cross-country? IT SUCKS!

Jeffery, Jeffery, Jeffery: I guess you have forgotten what I said to you about your so called non subsidized buses. 1) If you take a look at a bus license plate. It reads, “APPORTIONED”. That means that the bus company gets a break in its taxes. 2) Who do you think maintaines the roads? Hint: It’s not the bus companies. 3) What happens if the bus is not new & modern? Alot of small bus companies still use old buses. Greyhound & Trailways have discontinued serving small towns, leaving AMTRAK to take care of these towns. By the way, AMTRAK has been ADA compliant since the arrival of the Amfleet in 70’s. PS. I used to work for a so called (non-subsidized) bus company. Do your research!

Maybe Mr. Guse doesn’t understand that busses on public highways don’t maintain and pay taxes on their rights of way the way railroads do. “…without subsidy” - not as I understand things.

@Jeffery Guse: “…why Amtrak exists if bus companies can perform the same tasks without subsidy.” You can’t possibly believe the words you’ve typed, can you? Where do you think the roads that those buses drove on came from?

When is BNSF, going to implement a major permanent solution to prevent the mud slides like UPRR did a couple of years ago ?

Everyone: I think that Jeffery loves to get our goat! I suggest that if we ignore him, maybe he’ll go away. If he is a college professor, then as I said in my last sentence to him, see above, DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!

Those bus companies keep showing up with motor coaches on very short notice. It makes you wonder why Amtrak exists if bus companies can perform the same tasks without subsidy. Ever notice how you never hear horror stories about bus inaccessibility for the handicapped? That’s because the modern bus is fully accessible, which negates any claims that a train is required because the handicapped and elderly can’t get on a bus.

Jeffery Guse, is a complete idiot. Why does this cretin bothers to post his drivel on this forum. Jeffery, if you don’t like trains stay off this forum unless you want to continue to make an ass out of yourself.

Trust me, after reading Mr. Guse’s incoherent ramblings on Amtrak/Unions being terrrible at everything they do, and buses being the Savior of the transportation industry, I can safely assure you, he believes the garbage he types. It will be a fine day when his computer fails, and the rest of us on this website can read articles and comment on them without the “Jeff Guse Effect” taking over the tone of the conversation.

Like filtered apple, most of us are seeing thru the comments of Guse—juice.
The value of his comments is cooked like a Guse----goose.
Just sympathy, no micro- holacost for Guse—Je…
In serious anger, note that the driver of the Midland Texas float disaster cleared the Grand Jury w/o charges or indictment!
In '62 a driver of a truckload (cheapo bus) of braceros---- farmworkers drove in front of the beet-gon peddler after dawn at Chualar near Salinas. All aboard, 26 men were killed, except the driver who within months at another Lettuce grower’s some how got in between a wall and and a bulldozer blade…and then there were none, survivers.
You betcha, Red Ryder, that Midland chauffer shakes in his boots…where’s Darwin when we need him.
Guse, it’s your diatribes I criticized, not you as a person.
