More new EMD locomotives for Europe

Today’s Railways Europe is reporting that Euro Cargo Rail, the French subsidiary of DB has 60 JT42CWR (Class 66) locomotives on order from EMD with deliveries to commence before the end of 2007. The new locomotives will be equipped for service in France, Belgium, and Germany. These are in addition to the large number of Class 66 locomotives sent over from parent EW&S Railway in the UK. They also have 20 Vossloh G2000BB locomotives on order, they have incumbent SNCF Fret on the run.

I have read about it in a local railmagazine. These loco’s will be equiped in Holland at NedTrain in Tilburg before going into service in he countries you’ve mentioned. That’s a good thing: jobs will be created at NedTrain along will increased output capacity.[2c]

And it shows that when price/service is right even in France you can move freight by train despite all the obstacles that were put in their way.

I wish them all the best.

Now, where is GE?

greetings,

Marc Immeker

PS Just wondering when DB / Railion (or whatever it is calling itself now) will order new big diesels.
