My Hallmark Christmas tree type ornaments look more realistic than Hallmarks and actually run on track.
I picked up a Bachmann N gauge train set for $1 at a garage sale. Tested the little steamer switcher and it works. I have a coal tender, tank car, box car and gondola and even a little track.
Now I know what to do with them. Tie them to a little clear fishing monofilament line and a Christmas tree ornament hook and hang them on the tree.
Thanks for the idea guys.
I also use N gauge track for O scale ladders. Snap off the rails and cut out every other tie with a small pair of diagonal pliers and trim with X-acto knife. There you have it, a 4 inch piece of ladder (scale 16 foot) or cut to length.
I have been collecting them from the first ornament. And this year was almost a disapointment, because the came out with special edition SANTA FE F-3 in gold and silver. I went on a hunting spree 8 stores till I found 2 and bought them.
After I got home I went on eBay and there price was almost double. I like the little things, But I like the N gauge idea! Yard sales always have some and cheap!
Thanks for the idea, mabey this year the tree theme will be TRAINS under and ON.
