One of the outings on my vacation last week was a trip East of Bryce to the lower elevations in search of things to shoot pictures of. Much to my wife’s amusement I brought along a pair of hand pruners. Why you ask, to gather dead Sagebrush of course. Our California Sagebrush just doesn’t compare.
After some pruning, Woodland Scenics fiber, and Woodland Scenics ground foam, I managed to make 31 trees. I did end up making a few of them “dead trees” but most have green on them.

Very nice! They look more realistic than the commercial alternatives I’ve come across. The amount of creativity that exists is amazing. Good motivation for others to think outside the box.
Trunks look out standing!
Your trees look great! [tup]

Nice… I hope you brought back enough to share with everybody… [;)]
Like the way the funeral home came out.
Way to go. I have a photo that I took in Yosemite years ago. Your first tree looked just like my photo.[tup]

I would have but since Momma had enough luggage for a football team…
Did see a few other places in AZ that we could make a day trip out of and fill up your truck. And yup, funeral home fits right in. Your part is awaiting your return.
Thanks to all for the kind words and hopefully others will be inspired to take hand pruners on vacation!
Jeff,
As always … looks great! The funeral home is a pretty large strcuture. Did you have to remove something to make room?
Marty
No more produce. Pretty much the same footprint. This one fits in better with the other scenes.

Great tree. I see it’s important to draw this Woodland fiber a lot. I will try it too.

Sorry to keep beating on a dead tree, but…
Went back out to the train house and just wasn’t happy with the trees. We’ve all had those moments. The trees looked ok, but they just didn’t fit the color with the rest of the foliage. Re-did all of them! Even my 8 year old daughter says they match better. This method used Woodland Scenics “clump foliage”. I sprayed the twigs with spray glue and then put them in a box of the foam, clumped it in my hands, and then picked 90% of it off. I’m a lot happier with them now.

I wish we had access to that stuff here in the midwest.
