More Virtual Modeling...

Curious about V-Scale?..check out the Train-Sim.Com ScreenShots Archive Page at…

Wow… some of those shots were very impressive. [tup]

I was going to say that I’ve seen model railroad photos that I could mistake for the real thing and that none of the virtual stuff came up to that level. But then I kept clicking through the archives and found shots that did. I bet “V Scale” costs less than the other scales too!

I know what you mean. I went through the whole archive (thank god it was only the last 2 months) and found quite a few pictures that were hard to judge. In some cases only the smoke gave it away.

One thing I noticed is that many shots look like paintings, which may be why I like the sim so much. It’s like an art work that operates, if you catch my meaning.

Some of the models are actually finished with photographs of the real thing. This makes for a very convincing model when it’s done right.

There are shots of real models and real trains interspersed with the sim shots. This is kinda cool, as it gives you aome comparison.

Yes, in most cases the smoke gave it away. “Puffs” of smoke (or no smoke with diesels) both looked pretty realistic. Shots where the smoke angled back from the loco in streaks were a dead give away.

Looks like it could be a lot of fun though… I may have to look at buying some software to play with. Any recommendations as to what is the best?

Thanks
