i have just got 8 train engines, 100 train cars, about 30 buildings or more, 3 controlers, and a incomepleat layout for $200. it was from a friend of the familys whos husband died, but he did not do a good job on building the layout.
Rob: How do you plan to incorporate these cars and locos in to a C@NW layout?
As long as there are some reasonable quality locos, rolling stock and buildings, you’ve probably done OK. The layout, always over valued by sellers, is probably little loss. Can you save any of the track and switches? Do any of the locos and cars fit your location and era? Locos could be repainted if worth it and in your era. Rolling stock pretty much era specific, though some spanned a good many years. Hopefully some of the buildings can be put to use. Even if you can’t use much of it, if you can incorperate some, then you could make an offer for the family to come see what you have done with their loved ones things. Their choice to come or not. Showing that you have incorperated some of the things you got (even though not a gift), will let the know that their loved ones love of trains is appreciated…
Good luck,
not sure yet. i know thats was a problem. i am trying to figure it out. it was a friend of the family. i will get back to you on that
WEll, that is, I guess, worth about $1.00 per car for $100, and about what $13 per engine? not bad if it all runs and works good.
And you can use it.
I would think, unless you can save track or switches or wire, that the layout is a total loss. They usually are in cases like this.
oh ya, they run and i can not use the track because it is flex track and he did not use the right turnouts.
i forgot to put in that i got 2 big bags of model railroader mags
dang it i can not make up my mind between alco line or great northern.
i am know a lot of info about great northern and the alco line.
