May I respectfully recommend a full-page story in this Sunday’s (June 5th) edition of THE NEW YORK TIMES, regarding a mother who was taken by her two college-age sons on a mostly-Amtrak cross-country vacation trip, including a portion on the Californai Zephyr. A great story, not only about the sights seen, meals, sleeping, and the aboard-train activities, but how delightful it was for this mother to realize a new relationship with her now-adult sons. You will find this story on all of page 9 (Personal Journeys) of the Travel section. I’d be pleased to read about your reactions.
Thanks for letting us know about the story, it’s delightful indeed. I think maybe I’ll talk with my sister about taking our mom on a vacation [:)]
