Does anyone know where I might acquire HO scale figures of RCMP Officers(Mounties) or something that looks like them? I am building a Canadian Layout from the 50’s and found out that an RCMP patrol uniform looked exactly like the ceremonial Red Serge uniform they wear today except the red tunic was olive drab in colour. Any type of figure that wears a stetson hat like a lot of American State police wear would suffice. American soldiers from WW1 would work too. I have looked everywhere and can’t find anything similar. Help!!! I am attaching a picture in case no one gets what I’m talking about. Thanks.
Hmmm - H0 scale figures with Stetson hats - how about the Preisser American Police officer set?:

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, why does this question sound familiar?
Oh, http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/192511.aspx?sort=ASC&pi314=1
I’ve seen the preiser figures but there is only one per set and they aren’t quite what I’m looking for but if I can’t find something better in the near future I’ll have to suck it up and buy a bunch of these sets. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Can I tempt you with these…
or these…
Maybe this…
Of course, you would have to make the switch to O scale, but secretly that’s what you had in mind anyhow.
Those would be fantastic if they were smaller. Why can’t Preiser or Woodland Scenics or anybody come up with these. I am definitely not a capable modeler but I’m going to do something. Where did you get those anyway?
Well, if you need a large number of people on parade, you could e.g. start with Preisser’s 1:87 scale Modern German Army Band (set 16550) which contains sprues of body parts which can be assembled to give 89 different soldiers posed in in different ways (click on the sprue link to see body parts available).
You would have to do something about the heads to make the brimmed hats - a quick amputation at about the hairline removing the top of the head and non-mountie headgear, a circle or oval of thin styrene and a top of putty perhaps - whatever is under will be camoflaged by the paint anyways.

Be sure to check out the dioramas page. Some of those guys really get into metal soldiers. Those Mounties are Britains.
