moving miniatures

is there anywhere where i can find scenes that move electrically. n scale. or some place i can get ideas on maybe how i can make one. thanks.

Welcome to the forums.

I think it is Faller (but don’t quote me) that has a system to move vehicles around on the roads. Any I have seen were done with HO, but I don’t see why you couldn’t adapt N vechcles to it. Should work, unless it takes special vehicles that the front wheels can turn some.

Good luck,

Richard

Try searching youtube for animated model train/railroad, there’s a few ideas there.

good luck

Alan

The Faller Car System is HO scale. I’ve seen an N-scale layout where the builder adapted a bus to run on it, though, so it’s really just a matter of putting your own vehicle body on it. The Faller frame is probably going to be too large for N-scale autos, though.

Consider not only physical animation, but also electrical “animation.” The Miller Engineering signs don’t move, but the animated graphics nevertheless add motion to a scene.

I’ve also got Walthers operating traffic lights on my HO-scale layout.

I have a large HO scale mountain with a skate and ski resort at the top. One could substitute N scale parts for the ski lift. I modified HO scale skaters with small iron pads that follow the sequential pattern of the moving magnets below the white ice surface. I imaging that with ingenuity one could use N scale skaters. with the same skating rink. I also have the Faller Car System. The bus pulls off the highway to a parking spot at the Bus station, and then procedes back onto the highway. The wire track crosses a bridge and connects two towns with two way traffic. Faller cars are expensive, but worth it. Bob

i think i will make my own animated scene. pre fab are so expensive. maybe a windmill or some boats moving around on the lake. any ideas?
