MP15 DC/AC How long?

No cease fire needed. I’m not mad at anybody. Maxman’s cool about it. What’s to fret about?

Cease fire? Cease fire? Don’t need no stinkin cease fire because neither of us is firing at the other. I was just throwing out the AC vs DC with toggle switch thing because of that other current thread in this forum where the toggle switch comment raised the ire of a third party.

I’m planning to purchase this model of the MP15AC from Athearn in CP colors soon. Tell us more about how it operates. I understand from past posts that the sound equipped version was giving most people fits.

How is it now?

Jeffrey,

When you quote, word for word, a source that is not your own you need to give credit to the source you lift the information from. In this case - Wikipedia. Not doing such is a violation of Wikipedia’s terms of use and is plagiarism.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP15AC

It appears that this requirement has been brought to your attention in the past.

A lot of the problems the moderators deal with on these forums involves people not being civil to each other. What say we practice being civil on this thread?

And not only Wikipedia but our own forum policy states the following:

  • Please respect copyright material. If you want to share copyright material with our users, please link to it. Don’t take a story from another Web site and post it in our forum. Don’t take a photo that you don’t own the rights to and use it in our forum. [underline mine]

This would also apply if you are copying and pasting data from another web page. Post the data but also supply a link along with it, like maxman did on pg. 1. Thanks.

Tom

The non-sound versions run great. I have 4.

The newer ones with Tsunami sound run great.

The older ones with MRC sound have decoder issues. Do not get one of these, unless you pay about the same as a non-sound. It might work for a while, but sooner or later the MRC decoder will give you grief.

I can only second this statement. I had a first generation Athearn Genesis MP15 w/sound and was completely dissatisfied with its running characteristics. Starting speed was way too high for a switcher and there was no way to change that. If I had wanted to put a Porsche on rails, I would have done it. I finally sold the loco in disgust!

Thanks for reminding me. I’ve tended to that little oversight.

I’ve got two of the Genesis and two of the Atlas ones being talked about. All run smooth and look fantastic.
