I know the Canada Post mail strike has only been over for a week but has any of my fellow Canadians subscribers received your copy of the August issue? I have yet to receive mine and have noticed so far the only mail I have been getting is bills.None of the usual flyers or for that fact the monthly sale catalogues I usually get form a few tool suppliers.
I haven’t received my MRR as of this mornings delivery, but as has been said, I have received a few bills and the usual suspects as far as Junk Mail goes.[banghead] they went straight into the recycling bin. I did however receive notification last Thursday that my package from Factory Direct Trains, (an MRR Advertiser) was in at the local sub post office just 10 minutes away. Needless to say, I rushed right over and picked it up. [tup] Now all I have to do is figure out how to install a mini Plug-in Decoder into the socket in the tender. LOL.[(-D][(-D]
Well no MR magazine today.I talker to my mailman ( mail lady in my case ) and she seemed mad when I asked about my magazine and how come I was ony receiving bills. She then mumbled something about being forced back to work and because of that she was only delivering essential mail and further more Canada Post was telling them not to deliver junk mail and magazines.
I tried calling Canada Post but got some rude lady who was no help at all. So I am not sure if my mailman was just in a bad mood and telling me some BS or if what she said is true.regardles I did file a complaint against her at my local post office.I have had a couple of problems with her before and filing a complaint seems to clear them up everytime. Not something I like to have to do but I do take getting my copies of MR I paid for very serious.[:D]
Wayne, I don’t believe that for a second. I would phone up your local Canada Post and complain about her. I’ve got the usual bills and my wife got a mag yesterday.
Canada, you aren’t alone. I don’t know about the rest of the US, but my August issue hasn’t made it to western Colorado yet. I usually receive it between the 29th and the 1st of the following month. Granted, we just had a holiday, but it should have been here by the weekend. I tried customer service, but “all representatives were busy helping others.”
I am still waiting for the August Model Railroader, as well as the July edition of the Model Railroad Craftsman and the June edition of the Model Railroad News. However, the Model Railroad News does have the June edition available on line for subscribers. Apparently they will be producing both a paper and digital edition of their magazine.
I usually get my MR and TRAINS mags just before or on the first of the month here in NY. The current issues arrived thusly: the MR arrived on the 2nd of July, the TRAINS arrived on the fifth.
ANd there was no postal strike that I know of here.
I don’t panic if they are not here on or before the first of the month. Now if they haven’t gotten here by the 15th, I would think a well-placed call to Kalmbach would be in order.
It would make sense that Canada Post is prioritizing first class mail but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I think they’re just grabbing handfuls of mail out of the bins and delivering it. So far I’ve received some 1st. class mail, a Reader’s Digest magazine(but no MR), and political advertising addressed to me (oh, of course that’s got to go through). A friend in B.C. just received a big padded envelope I sent him just before the strike. There’s no rhyme or reason to it. Is anyone surprised?
Well so far my August copy of MR has still not shown up.I did talk to my mail lady again yesterday and it is clear she is not happy about how she was forced back to work and judging from how she replied to my questions is not doing her job fully.Unfortunatly this left me with having to file a complaint against her.Not something I wanted to do. Hopefully my August copy of MR and all other monthly issues start showing up and keep showing up. I also tried to get Canada Post to tell me what the 411 is on what mail they are delivering but the lady I was talking to on the phone was not sure.
If anyone of my fellow Canadians gets their August copy of MR please post here. That way the rest of us will know it is being delivered and then if some of use do not receive it we will know we have a problem.Thanks.
I spoke with my mail carrier yesterday and she was very happy to be back to work. She said most people are. She also said that it was first come first served for the mail that gets delivered and that the sorting plants are getting caught up. Remember, it’s the sorting plants that sort the mail and deliver it to the proper post office, the carriers just deliver what they receive. Any First Class mail that was mailed after the strike obviously gets handled normally but anything that got caught in the strike might take a little while to get sorted and delivered. Wayne, your carrier is in the minority.
My bills and some flyers have been coming but no magazines. I found a story today in The Toronto Star that reports on the Canada Post backlog issues. Here is a link http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/1021099--canada-post-struggles-to-clear-backlog-of-40-million-letters?bn=1 It is interesting that the spokewoman says “we were not offering overtime” and “It’s a fine line we’re walking”. Oh well, the magazines should arrive when the backlog is cleared by the end of next week.
Nothing here yet but that is not really unusual as I do not typically see MR till the middle of the month anyway. As long as I have before my trip to Burns Lake as I will need something to read!
Well so far my August copy of MR is still a no show.Has any of my fellow Canadians received their copy yet? I am hoping my issue will show up soon but I also have a small package that is missing as well.My buddy has a couple that have not shown up as well. Kind of makes me wonder if Canada Post lost some mail on purpose to help clear their backlog.[*-)]
I did get my notice to renew my subscription though. It was sent out on June 13th and just arrived today. It only took it a month to get here. The funny thing is I renewed online on the 16th of June so the notice was for the most part just more junk mail.[:D] I also received an apology from my mail lady for her comments and attitude when I talked to her a few weeks back. She also seems in a better mood lately.
Im missing a couple magazines, I thought I heard that Canada post is holding back magazines until the backlog clears, dont know if thats true or not but I am missing magazines.
