I’ve read the first 30 pages of the MR received in the mail today.
Thanks to Tony Koester for disclosing the lighting technique for that great shot; David Williams who wrote in about the resources in Google Books (see page 20).
Very recently (just a couple of weeks ago) I was talking with my brother about a scenery product he use on an old layout, but alas, its no longer available. So when I got to page 30 in MR, there was Jim Hediger’s article about Lou Sassi’s “ground goop”, complete with the recipe, to replace the no-longer available product! I’m going to give it a try.
I was really quite surprised when I came upon that letter from Mike O’Connell in the February Railway Post Office column proclaiming, “What a great picture [by] Tony Koester.” In all seriousness, I can’t see anything exceptional about that photo (I do a lot of model photography myself). Anyone care to comment on what they see that is, as the the editors titled it “dramatic”, about this photo? I’m truly curious.
Gotta agree with you about the photo… nothing to spectacular IMHO. to each his own i guess!! I was excited to see Seth Puffer’s new layout. I enjoyed reading about his previous layout in GMR 2002, simple plan, yet looked like alot of fun to operate. this new layout is following suit! I also noticed some of the same buildings alive on the new layout as well. I haven’t really thoroughly read through the rest of the magazine yet. honestly i’m not to interested in ANOTHER project layout based around wisconsin…LOL!!!
