This takes me back to the late 40’s and 50’s with NYC and PRR making stops in my home town of Springfield, OH. Those were the days. Loved the video Dave.
I wander how you guys and girls got back home ?? By trains again or buses or plane !!!
Great video. Takes me back to the California Zephyr from Oakland to Chicago. My parents always took the CZ then the New England States Express to Springfield MA and on to Northampton. Wonderful times and I wish they were still around. Let’s do another trip!

Great Video - really enjoyed it!
this video was great.
I think I saw the four cars on the return trip from DC. Mile post 192 is in our backyard in Hyndman, PA. It is also the start of the Sandpatch grade. We always look for the private cars tagging along with Amtrak.
We take the train from Cumberland to DC about once a year. Sometimes just for the day (about a 4 hour turnaround in DC). We always get a “first call” for supper on the way back. The food is great and the view out the window tops any restaurant!
Grate video! I agree with the other comments made about your editing. Keep up the good work.
David, if I were any greener with envy I’d be in a bottle labeled “pickles”. Thanks for documenting your trip.
Thanks for taking us along. I just got back from a trip biking from Pittsburgh to DC and rode the rail trails of the former Western Maryland and the C&O Canal that parallels the B&O.
Absolutely great video! Loved every minute of it. Keep ‘em comin’ guys. This is really good stuff!
That was awesome. Thanks for holding the camera and sharing that experience with us. That alone was worth the subscription.
In your Naug n scale layout, you mentioned difficulties with steam on 9 3/4 in. curves. I am an n scaler (Atlas Code 80 track and turnouts) and steam runs just fine over several 9 3/4 in. curves and the turnouts with no derailments or stalls. In fact, even my new Athearn BIG BOY runs very smoothly! Don Schnell at schnelldonald@aol.com
Wonderful video. Excellent editing, obviously. Will try to patiently wait for the next one.
Great stuff, but a question? Just after Comiskey Park, there was a Norfolk Southern high nose engine. It looked like a GP9 or SP9, but I couldn’t see the trucks. I don’t think NS has any in regular service, but did any of you catch it? I thought the number was 504, but can’t see anything in their roster with that number.
Very cool! I love the dome car, it seemed like you were riding on the roof. Thanks for sending me the email notices when you get new videos like this.
Really enjoyed this video!
For me, this was a wonderful way to spend 9+ minutes. Please do more trips.
I enjoyed your trip very much. The video and narration were both great and I liked the way model railroad features were pointed out along the route. More trips like this would be an outstanding addition to MR Video Plus! Good job to all.
Enjoyable to the last David; Even the credits!
I think MRVP needs to send you on more of these types of trips. Your wife looks like she needs to go on more vacations, er, business trips, too.
Outstanding Video! Truly impressed! Thank you for showing this. It was a nice break from work to be able to pull this up and watch.
The locomotive is 5041 and is is a GP 38-2. My first glance I thought it was a SD 9.
