MR Insider: March 2014
I for a long time have enjoyed watching and learning from the knowledgeable staff of MR. But I must acknowledge that with addition of Jenny things are looking up. Welcome aboard!
Jenny, great job on your first MR Insider.
Nice to see Jenny again!
Nice job Jen.
Great job as always,
long time subscriber, your attention to detail is awesome. keep up the great work!
Yay! Jenny is a breath of fresh air!
A vast improvement in Video Plus this time. Welcome Jenny.
Glad to see MR has decided to show some of the women who work there. One way to get girls and women more interested int he hobby is to simply show them in the hobby. I hope to see more of this trend in the magazine too.
BTW, friends recently gave their 18 month old DAUGHTER her first Thomas train set.
I agree with Richard from Arizona. My daughter (2 years old) LOVES trains. We live close enough to see and hear the busy NS Heartland Corridor just out the window. She’s ridden behind NKP 765 (where maybe 75% of the passengers in our car seemed to be women) and holds me tight when trains honk as we railfan the nearby crossing together on walks. If we walk up the street the other way, we see the local hobby shop with a Thomas wooden railway to play with.
Her favorite thing though is to check out the progress on the various model train layouts in the family on visits to their homes, and to hold her very own Thomas locomotive (which will soon be upgraded with a DCC sound decoder).
No need for pink layouts with pastel colors centered around equestrian industries - we just like seeing stories about layouts that involve and inspire the whole family, and maybe some stories about women in the model train industry.
As for me, I’ll keep inviting her to participate in a hobby that has brought joy to our family for over four generations.
Jenny gets my vote!!! More railroadin’ wimmen!! Nicely done girl.
