Too bad he must not have had enough time to ride between Chicago and Kansas City on Amtrak. In 1986 I rode the Southwest Chief from KC to Chicago – I’d never seen so many intermodal trains in my life! From the train I also saw a retired ATSF steam loco in Walt Disney’s home town, Marceline, Missouri.
I’m a big fan of Don Ball’s work since the first issue of MR Planning. Wish Dave had covered it in greater depth.
