MR is now all alone.

As RMC shut down officially today… Now it is all MR’s market.

Well thay may get someone to take it over - they’re trying anyway. I for one hope so.

MR is all alone? What about Narrow Gauge & Shortline Gazette?

Paul A. Cutler III

Cartens has announced they are closing but the magazines may still get picked up. So it is premature to say MR is all alone.

Very debatable…Paul mentioned the Gazette already, but if your refering to paper product only, geared to newcomers to the hobby, then yes, MR is alone.

But there are, what, two N scale magazines, and an O scale magazine. There is much modeling content both in paper and online associated with various railroad historical societies. There is Joe Fugate’s online magazine and perhaps others. There is the NMRA Magazine which increasingly seems to be taking on the role of a general interest model railroad magazine and pretty much leaves the NMRA business aspect to the back pages or its own online presence.

Plus you know we are not the only country to have train magazines, and in English.

It’s rather ironic that the UK has no fewer than 4 general purpose hardcopy modeling mags devoted to the British scene and 1 devoted to other than Britain. Not only that, page counts are running well north of 125 pages each. The UK has a population about 20% that of the US.

Up here in Canada we still have Canadian Railway Modeller.
