while reading through an old issue of MR, the auther made the comment that he wished us readers could operate his layout. Anybody ever thought of creating the layout in Trainz and offering it for free download to MR subscribers? (non-subscribers could pay for the download). What a great way to experiance the MR layouts.
I have thought of doing this for my own layout and designs so that I can check the pitfalls of operating before committing to the hardware…
I have also contemplated doing this for my layout as I envisage it to be… it takes a lot of imagination to operatemy layout but not half asmuch as my dream layout would. However does it have to be a “payware” situation?

not exactly a simulator , but this software is supposed to make it fairly easy to do what you want (i don’t own it myself so can’t be too specific)

It’s called V-scale. And there was a more recent article in an MRR about a guy who did a subway network in one of them.
Tried it once but the unprototypical aspects of my layout were more than Trainz could handle!
