MR magazine Sweepstake contests eligibility

I have been a subscriber to MR for a few year’s now but i am not allowed to enter the MR Sweepstakes as i don’t live in the USA, Surely if you subscribe to MR magazine you should be elligable to enter sweepstakes regardless of where you live,. What do you think ???

i’ll bet one of the lawyers here could explain why we can’t enter the contest . it won’t make it any fairer but at least we’ll know why

I seond the motion … be nice to hear why. There’s probably some good legal liabilities reason they can’t offer it globally.

It’s obvioulsy a legal requirement. I know even here in Canada any “national” contests always have separate requirements for the province of Quebec. It’s a local legal thing.

I don’t recall the MR sweepstakes too much, but seem to recall the larger prize might have been a shopping spree for $X dollars? Kind of hard and much more expensive and time consuming if someone out of North America wins. Not even sure if we in Canada could participate. Customs dues, taxes, etc.

Big deal. Have a friend get the items you want and send them to you.
Better yet, convert the funds to your countries funds/ or credit your credit card.

Sure, I think you should - depending on your countries laws about such things.

But on the other hand, this month I’m not going to be upset you aren’t, since that’s one less person who can win the Digitrax system other than me!</evil look>

I expect that’s it. They don’t want to have to worry about whether the contest is legal in any particular place, so they just eliminate the problem. I was living overseas and found similar things at times.

I know… Go ahead and enter the contest under MY name, and if you (I) win…I’ll send you the prizes!!
