I’ve been trying to find a track plan without any luck. It appeared in an insert that appeared in MR 2-3 years ago. As I recall, it was the last plan in the insert, and featured an N scale plan that could be made as an oval or as a 2- or 3-piece shelf layout. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d appreciate it.
I remember the layout. It was one that featured a “town” (ie layout location) named Austin or some such Texas name, but which bore no particular relationship to any rail facility in Austin. I thought I was still carrying the insert around in my substitute teaching briefcase to give away to any kid who expressed an interest in model railroading. But it is not there.
I couldn’t find the insert in the 1st three places I looked and beyond that is a mess of stuff…
I DO remember that the layout was a REPRINT of a trackplan article from a regular issue of Model Railroader magazine.
By the way, a “picky” point. Your question was posted in the section on prototype issues for the modeler. A question about track plans would more appropriately be posted either in “layouts and layout building”, or in “general discussion model railroading” UNLESS it is a question about how closely a track plan fits a specific or general prototype.
Oops! Sorry for putting this in the wrong place. I forgot this forum’s supposed to be for prototype info. [:I]
