I found the perfect track plan in Model Railroader’s track plan database. Well, almost perfect. The mirror image of the plan would fit the available space just right. However, every time I try to copy and paste the plan out of Adobe and into Paint, to flip it, I lose a tremendous amount of quality. I eventually had to print the plan and rescan it as a JPEG in order to flip it. Is there an easier way to do this?
Do you have the latest version of Abobe Reader (Version X)?
After loading the file, click on “View” at the top of the page. One of the options in the drop-down menu is “Rotate” either clockwise or counterclockwise.
I am using the current version of Adobe Reader. I can rotate the image on an axis but actually flip it so I get the mirror image.
After the file opens in Acrobat reader, I save them to my computer as a pdf.
I have several photo editing programs that can open pdf files. But they do not work on some some pdf files. The one I have had the most success is a free program called GIMP. So far it has opened every pdf I have tried. I can then save it in another format and/or modify the file in GIMP, and save it. The files can be saved in a wide variey of formats such as jpeg, tiff, bmp, and many others I am not familar with.
In my free version of adobe there is an option in one of the page setup/print option windows to “mirror image” I’ll look when in get to my computer this weekend
The old addage holds true – Find the right tools:
[1] PDFill Tools. You’ll see the free PDF-file manipulation tools to accomplish your image conversion objectives – Along with many other “PDF Tools” – Including PDF conversion to Image, etc. You’ll also get a PDF-file print-driver that can turn a document, image, webpage into a PDF-file from any program’s “File/Print” Menu. If you want “a very-in-depth” PDF Editor (for text manipulation, etc.) – You can register that part of the program for $20.00.
[2] Ashampoo Photo Optimizer v5 is currently available at no cost for quick photo fix-ups including “Optimization.” Do read the article at Computelogy.com.
[3] IrfanView should be on everyone’s computer. Don’t forget the plug-ins. Try “Pasting” an image “Cut/Copy” into Irfanview.
[4] PDF-X-Change Viewer has nice “Text Copy” and “Image Snapshot” features, and; is more versatile than Adobe Reader. Keep Adobe Reader on you computer as PDF-X-Change has an icon in its lower-right corner to load “a very stubborn” PDF-file into Adobe Reader.
