MRC City and Country Sound Station

Anyone use one? Sounds like a good idea for ambient noise.

At the train shop where I work, we sell those. I like the City and Country better than the locomotive sound model. It works quite well for a scene that does not move around the layout. And the variety of sounds you get out of it, it will fit in almost any scene on your layout.

I just picked one up off e-bay. The sounds are not the greatest, but they are fun and the kids love it. It is actually set up with the wooden track right now rather than in the layout room. The ambient sounds like the woods and insects are good. You can then play the other sounds over the continuous sound.

Here’s a good alternative if you’re looking for high quality background sounds.

Green Frog has a very nice selection of city, country, industrial, and miscellaneous sounds on tapes and DVDs. One even has a thunderstorm and rain in the background.

I think the site is http://www.greenfrog.com

Worth checking out!

I don’t use one, but I heard they are pretty good.
