This decoder sounds great. However, it will not allow readback of CV values. The manual states that readback of values in sound decoders is “unreliable,” so this feature was not included. As a result, DecoderPro software will not recognize/program this decoder.
I’m looking for a lower cost sound decoder to equip my fleet of steam and diesel locos. Does the decoder provide Locomotive control and sound or is it a Sound only addition that piggy backs the loco decoder.
If it controls the loco what are the speed steps used (128?).
Thanks
I have an Athearn F unit I bought in 2003. Is it possible to install a sound DCC Decoder in it.? The unit uses those copper metal strips on the top for the conduction to the motor and light.
